Nestled in the heart of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Shannon's Place is a cherished breakfast haven that has been serving hearty, homestyle meals for over 35 years. This classic breakfast restaurant offers a comforting fusion of traditional American diner fare with generous portions that satisfy every appetite without breaking the bank.
Step inside Shannon’s Place and you’ll immediately notice the warm, inviting atmosphere that feels like a local secret passed down through generations. The decor is charmingly nostalgic, reflecting the enduring spirit of a timeless neighborhood diner. Clean and cozy, the space encourages friendly chatter and casual mornings spent savoring familiar flavors.
The menu here shines brightest in its breakfast offerings. The Sausage and Cheese Omelette with Homefries is a crowd favorite, delivering fluffy eggs packed with savory sausage and melted cheese, perfectly complemented by crispy, golden homefries. For those craving a unique twist, the aptly named Garbage Omelette is a loaded delight, bursting with an irresistible medley of ingredients that combine to create a satisfying mountain of flavor.
Sweet tooths will fall for the Strawberry Stuffed French Toast and the decadent Banana Pancakes, both boasting thick, tender slices bursting with fruit and warmth. The house-made Biscuit and Sausage Gravy with Eggs and Homefries offers a rich and hearty experience, comforting in every buttery bite. Coffee lovers are well taken care of too—perfectly brewed cups serve as the ideal accompaniment to these morning staples, while the hot chocolate provides a velvety indulgence on cooler days.
The versatility of Shannon's Place extends beyond breakfast, with savory options like burgers and platters served alongside fries or soup, and fresh, vibrant salads such as the Spinach with Chicken or the Garden Salad with Turkey, Ham & Cheese. For something lighter yet satisfying, the grilled wraps—especially the Turkey BLT Wrap and Smothered Steak Wrap—deliver a flavorful punch wrapped in warm, soft tortillas.
What truly sets Shannon’s Place apart, however, is not just the affordable prices or generous portions, but the genuine hospitality. Customers regularly praise the friendly, attentive service—Shannon herself often greets guests with a warm smile and pours the coffee refills. Diners appreciate the familiar, community-driven spirit where most patrons are known by name, creating a unique sense of belonging rarely found in modern eateries.
While the service can be slower during busy times and it’s a cash-only establishment, these small aspects pale in comparison to the cheerful ambiance, outstanding comfort food, and remarkable value. As one loyal customer put it, “Every Pawtucket local knows this hole in the wall,” reflecting the diner’s status as an essential Pawtucket experience.
In sum, Shannon’s Place invites you to step back in time to a simpler dining experience where quality, warmth, and generous servings meet affordability. Whether you’re craving classic eggs benedict with hash, the robust flavors of a mushroom cheeseburger, or a towering plate of pancakes, this diner promises a satisfying and sincere taste of Rhode Island’s breakfast culture.
Had a great experience at Shannon’s Place this morning. 2x4 breakfast plate (eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausages) with unlimited coffee under $10! Food was plentiful and served hot. Service was friendly and attentive. Atmosphere is dated, but clean and inviting. Talked with Shannon herself while she poured refills. She started her namesake diner 35 years ago and it’s still going strong. Highly recommended.
It's cash only ! The food was good, had several different omelettes , the mushroom and cheese, the broccoli and "the garbage"omelette, liked the home fries taste, coffee was good too. The service was a bit slow but was also busy, didn't get coffee refilled as promptly or as expected as usual like restaurants. It's a cozy place, not modern. Street parking was available, it was my first time here and I didn't find much parking close by.
Every Pawtucket local knows this hole in the wall. Cash only. Not a fancy and expensive place. Serving up quality homestyle breakfast with affordable prices for your family. Inside of $50 your whole family can have a hearty breakfast. Great staff and consistently good food is what counts. They know most customers by name and good honest people come here to get a meal.
It's nice finding an old diner like this one! Customer service is great, prices are even better!
This little restaurant delivers on serving up traditional grease spoon meals with bafflingly inexpensive prices. Everything is proportioned to ensure that you aren't walking out wanting more. The food itself is very good, just lacks a certain creativity or uniqueness- rather the uniqueness comes out in the cheap price and large portions. Service is excellent, despite the restaurant being absolutely packed with a line out the door i was able to get in and out in a reasonable amount of time. I ordered their garbage omelette, Texas French toast, and an apple cinnamon pancake. This is a great restaurant to come if you are just very hungry and want to fill up on something you know you're going to like, not necessarily something if you're in the mood to try something new.
If you’re sick of overpaying at a Denny’s or IHOP then I highly suggest coming here!! I’ve eaten breakfast at Shannon’s many times and I always leave satisfied. It’s a small cash-only diner. The staff is super personable. You get a lot of food for the money and great service. All of these fantastic qualities keep customers coming back. I found this place randomly one day and I’m so glad I did! The home fries actually taste like something and are seasoned.
This place rocks…my uncle told me about Shannon’s and I’ve been hooked since. Good food at good prices and quick service (sometimes there’s a line outside..for a reason). Either way, if you’re local, definitely worth it. I appreciate you all!!
Shannon's place has the BEST home fries! They are well seasoned and are very generous with the portions. The service is a little on the slower side but when you have great food and great staff the wait is all worth it. Inside sitting is very "cozy" but as soon you come in you smell the coffee brewing, and the staff always makes sure you're coffee is always full which I loved! Overall really good place to get breakfast.
